Community Events

Hemlock Hollow is more than a childcare program, more than a forest school: we are a community of like-minded homeschooling families, working together to create an alternative educational paradigm for our children.
Our program aims to foster wholesome connections between parents, children, siblings, and other family members through regularly scheduled community events and seasonal festivals. We also engage with the wider, local community by learning through invited teachers (farmers, herbalists, artists, historians, etc.) and participating in field trips to local sites of interest. As parents and educators, we are interested in learning together about the applications of Waldorf and Place-Based education in today’s changing world, and open to the unique possibilities this paradigm may present in light of the challenges of 21st century society.
All community members are invited to participate in seasonal festivals and celebrations. We gather at least once per season for a festival or celebration (Halloween, Winter Solstice, May Day), and plan themed parent meetings where community members come together to learn and support each other.
